An evangelist or preacher is a proclaimer of the good news of Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 4:1-5; Eph 4:11). In assemblies of worship, the classroom, and private settings, the goal of a minister of the gospel is to lead both Christians and seekers in Bible study and application. To do the work of an evangelist (2 Timothy 4:5) is to declare the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27), to proclaim the “good news” of the kingdom of heaven (Acts 28:30-31), and to speak the truth in love (Eph 4:15).
